Petition packets available for Naperville Park District Board Election

Update, Dec. 9, 2020 / The list of potential park district candidates has grown to include Bobby Carlsen, Mike Reilly, Srirajasekhan “Bobby” Koritala, Bill Eagan, Mike King, Michael Prueter, Leslie Duffing, Mary Gibson, Ronald Cooper, Rhonda Ansier, Zak Kates, Lee Kaseska, Alison Thompson, Amir Haghighat, Dilip Kikla, Nag Jaiswal and Nathan Wilson. The filing period runs Dec. 14 through Dec. 21. (List of 17 submitted by Bridget Tuft, Executive Administrative Assistant/Local Election Official for the Naperville Park District.)

Update, Nov. 6, 2020 / As of this morning’s check, 11 individuals have picked up petition packets with information about running to serve as commissioner on the seven-member Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners. Zak Kates has been added to the list that includes Bobby Carlsen, Mike Reilly, Srirajasekhan “Bobby” Koritala, Bill Eagan, Mike King, Michael Prueter, Leslie Duffing, Mary Gibson, Ronald Cooper and Rhonda Ansier.

Since Sept. 18, petition packets for the 2021 Naperville Park District Board of Park Commissioners election have been available for pickup from 9AM-4PM, Monday through Friday at the Park District Administration Building at 320 W. Jackson Ave. at the desk of Bridget Tuft, Executive Administrative Assistant/Local Election Official.

Four positions will be up for election on April 6, 2021; newly elected commissioners will serve four-year terms. The filing period runs December 14 to 21, 2020.

Individuals who wish to run for a seat on the board must be at least 18 years of age and a Naperville Park District resident for at least one year prior to the election.

Candidates for the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners will be on the Consolidated Election ballot at the same time as hopefuls to serve Naperville City Council, District 203 and District 204 Boards of Education as well as College of DuPage Board of Trustees, etc. Municipal Elections are held every other odd year.

School Board Membership Info

Information regarding petition packets to run for school boards is available via DuPage County since administration buildings for both School District 203 and School District 204 are located in DuPage County. FYI: Petitioners were able to begin passing petitions on Sept.  22, 2020. Filing dates to run for school boards are Dec. 14-21, 2020. Candidates for local school boards must file at DuPage County Clerk Election Division, 421 North County Farm Road, Wheaton, Illinois 60187.

Update, Oct. 20, 2020 / As of this afternoon, the following 10 individuals have picked up petition packets for Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners: Bobby Carlsen, Mike Reilly, Srirajasekhan “Bobby” Koritala, Bill Eagan, Mike King, Michael Prueter, Leslie Duffing, Mary Gibson, Ronald Cooper and Rhonda Ansier.

Petitioners will need 383 signatures in order to be placed on the ballot to run for Naperville Park District Commissioner. Four seats are up for election.

Note that the park district provides petition packets as a courtesy and convenience, and that prospective candidates and interested parties also can obtain the necessary filing forms online from the Illinois State Board of Elections.

Naperville Consolidated Elections are April 6, 2021

Original Post, Sept. 10, 2020 / Petition packets for the 2021 Naperville Park District Board of Park Commissioners election will be ready for pickup by interested park board candidates beginning Friday, September 18, 2020.

Packets may be picked up from 9AM-4PM, Monday through Friday at the Park District Administration Building at 320 W. Jackson Ave. at the desk of Bridget Tuft, Executive Administrative Assistant/Local Election Official.

Four positions will be up for election on April 6, 2021; newly elected commissioners will serve four-year terms.

Individuals who wish to run for a seat on the board must be at least 18 years of age and a Naperville Park District resident for at least one year prior to the election.

Bobby Carlsen, Bill Eagan, Mike King, and Mike Reilly hold the four board positions that will expire in April 2021. Rich Janor, Josh McBroom and Marie Todd were elected in 2019 to serve through 2023.

The Park District makes these packets available as a matter of convenience but candidates are solely responsible for complying with all requirements of the law concerning their candidacy and are therefore encouraged to consult an attorney prior to circulating petitions and before filing for any office.
