If healthy, follow all “social distancing” advice and create a not-canceled experience by taking the winding brick path beyond Moser Tower and the Visitors Center, just past the footbridge that leads over to Centennial Park. Be Mindful of ‘Social Distancing’
The Naperville Park District reminds residents to practice social distancing outdoors as well as indoors. Parks can play an important role in boosting health and wellness, but park visitors have a responsibility to limit the spread of CO-VID 19 as much as possible.
Governor Pritzker issued an executive order limiting crowd sizes to less than 50 people and that the Governor agrees with the federal government recommendations that no more than 10 people gather in one place. (These orders could change after the Fri., March 20, news conference.)
The following guidelines for using parks or trails are from the National Recreation and Park Association’s Joint Statement on Using Parks and Open Space While Maintaining Social Distancing:
- Refrain from using parks or trails if you are exhibiting symptoms.
- Follow CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to and during use of parks or trails.
- Prepare for limited access to public restrooms or water fountains.
- While on trails, warn other users of your presence and as they pass, and step aside to let others pass.
- Follow CDC guidance on the recommended size of social gatherings including outdoor picnicking, pick-up sports and other group hangouts, and maintain proper physical distance at all times.
- Observe CDC’s minimum recommended social distancing of 6 feet from other individuals at all times. If this is not possible, users should find an alternate location or depart that space.
- Consult local and state ordinances and guidelines for the most up to date recommendations on park and trail use.
Residents are welcome to enjoy nature and parks responsibly.
