The future is looming, and we can’t begin to imagine how much our joining together to find a common, highly civil ground will make or break the country.
Before I was politically aware, I never thought much about how our government and our political system worked. High school taught me how the party system increased the diversity of candidates and voices that looked to represent the will of the people. I was impressed by how joining together, the different candidates did their best to clearly give voters a soaring view of the most important issues on our minds.
The hopeful, clearly diverse people making their bold statements, hold our lives in there big ideas and their humanistic or non-partisan booming lines. We are in dire need of addressing our one planet’s health before it’s too late. Blasting this most critical issue onto a political stage is like closing the life line of a sick person in order to pander to an agenda. Lives are in jeopardy, cowards around the globe are crushing innocent people for their power plays, and men and women in the military are risking their lives to protect us all.
My new brother-in-law has given his best young medical career to the United States Air Force. He is a doctor who takes great care to heal and protect the fighter pilots. His squadron means everything to him. Real people like the ones in my family, who I love with all my heart, are going to be affected by the person we elect. Let’s open our hearts and minds this year and make doing what’s best for everyone our priority and goal.
