John Gallagher started out selling siding, windows and doors for a large company. But he wanted to be home with his family, so he went out on his own. Thirty-one years and 6,000 customers later, Exterior Designers, Inc. has grown through long-term relationships and referral customers. In the exterior remodeling business, if you do the job right, customers don’t need you again for 20 years or more. Yet John has found that a happy roofing customer eventually needs new siding, windows or a new front door. Or they have a friend who does.
He says he’s thought about hiring sales people, but never has.
“Ultimately, the single most important thing you have is your name. People like that they are dealing directly with the owner. I truly want my customers to enjoy their homes.”
John says Naperville is a fantastic community, but it’s not perfect. He is always looking for ways to give back. That includes being an active member of his church and the Rotary Club of Naperville.
