Above / Thanks to partnership with DuPage County and eWorks ESI, electronics recycling collection will resume in Naperville again, making a convenient drop off location possible at 180 Fort Hill Drive.
Naperville’s Environmental Collection Campus will once again serve as a collection point for electronics recycling beginning Monday, November 7.
Located at 180 Fort Hill Drive, the City’s Environmental Collection Campus serves as a drop-off center for residents to properly dispose of traditional recycling materials and scrap metal, hazardous household waste and now electronics.
“The recycling of electronics has an important environmental impact, and we’re thrilled to be able to add electronics recycling to our campus once again,” said Dick Dublinski, Director of Naperville’s Department of Public Works. “We strive as a City to prioritize sustainability, and this collection campus serves as a valuable regional resource in working toward that goal.”
Hours: 7AM-3PM Weekdays
Electronics drop-off will be available Monday through Friday from 7AM to 3PM and will be maintained by eWorks ESI through a contract with DuPage County.
Fee will be charged for screens and monitors
A fee will be charged for CRT, flat screens, projection TVs and monitors. Screens under 21 inches will be assessed a $25 fee per unit. Screens 21 inches and larger will be assessed a $35 fee per unit. An attendant will be on duty to accept payment in the form of cash or credit card and to answer questions.
The dumping of electronics on-site outside of the posted collection hours is illegal.
According the City’s website, items accepted for recycling are:
Computers & Peripherals: PCs, main frames, modems, printers, monitors, terminals, tape drives, CD-ROM drives, floppy disk drives, plotters, mouse, keyboards, scanners, cables
Office Equipment & Products: Telephones, phone systems, answering machines, fax machines, copy machines, cellular phones, pagers, postage machines
Small Home Appliances, Home Improvement Products: Microwave ovens, hair dryers, circuit breaker boxes, rechargeable batteries, power tools, electronic motors, wire, toasters, coffee makers (no glass), blenders and mixers (no glass)
Home Entertainment & Other Items: TVs, VCRs, DVD players, stereo equipment, joy sticks, cameras, camcorders, video game players.
Items not accepted are:
Large appliances, hazardous and chemical waste. All items should be delivered unboxed and free of excess packaging materials.
Individuals with more than 50 items (3 pallets or greater) are asked to contact eWorks at (217) 364-7543 to arrange for a special pickup.
“As state funding has proven insufficient in the past to fully fund the state’s electronics recycling mandate, we’re very grateful to eWorks and DuPage County for finding a sustainable solution that reinstates this important service in the community,” said City Manager Doug Krieger.
