Naperville seeks volunteers for city boards and commissions

-

Above / The Naperville Municipal Building located at 400 S. Eagle Street hosts meetings for more than 20 boards and commissions filled by appointed local resident volunteers at designated times throughout the year.

The Mayor’s Office would like to extend an invitation to Naperville residents to volunteer to fill vacant positions on the Sister Cities Commission and the Advisory Commission on Disabilities.

Sister Cities Commission meets monthly

The Sister Cities Commission (SCC) aims to foster international understanding and friendship by forging personal links through city-to-city affiliations. The SCC is seeking two new members with an educational, financial or special events background. The commission meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7PM the Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., unless otherwise noted.  For more information about the SCC, visit www.naperville.il.us/scc.

Advisory Commission on Disabilities meets quarterly

The Advisory Commission on Disabilities (ACD) assists, informs and advises the administrative and elected officials of the City on all matters pertaining to discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The ACD is looking to fill three to four vacant positions. Beginning in 2017, the ACD will meet quarterly on the first Wednesday of February, May, August and November at 6:30PM the Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., unless otherwise noted. Additional meetings may be called should the need arise. For more information about the ACD, visit www.naperville.il.us/acd.

Interested applicants should visit www.naperville.il.us/boards to download and review an application form. The form asks for basic information such as name and address and also asks why you are interested in serving on a board or commission. The application, along with a copy of an individual’s resume, can be submitted by mail or in person to the Mayor’s Office at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., or by email to trotze@naperville.il.us. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
