North Central College presents Irish tenor Paddy Homan in “I Am Ireland” March 19

-

North Central College presents the celebrated Irish tenor Paddy Homan in his one-man show “I Am Ireland” March 19.

The performance begins at 8PM Saturday, March 19, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

Tickets are $30 and $20; call the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW (7496) or visit northcentralcollege.edu/show.

Celebrate Irish road to freedom

To honor the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising in Ireland, Homan will take his audience on a journey through the songs, speeches and images of the time to honor and celebrate the Irish road to freedom. “I Am Ireland” is his personal conversation about the songs of Ireland that inspired all those who came before 1916 and to continue on that journey to reclaim Ireland’s independence.

A native of Ireland and resident of Chicago, Homan has a strong history with the songs: “These songs and speeches give the narrative of Ireland’s road to independence during that period. …  It is my true honor to represent my country in doing this and to walk in the emotional footsteps of those who sacrificed so much for me and our land.”

About Homan, Irish Music Magazine says, “Nobody sings like this, and nobody sounds like this. The voice never, ever grates. The range is stunning. The interpretation is perfect. This is the whole complete deal wrapped up in one voice, one talent.”

Presented in two acts with images projected to bring to life the faces of the great statesmen and pictures of the time, Homan performs with a three-piece band of Irish traditional musicians. They bring the songs to life and celebrate the glory of Irish music and nation.
