Register now for scouting programs to be offered at Safety Town

-

Above /  Since the mid-1990s, Safety Town has been a miniature village where youth and families can learn about public safety as well as the important responsibilites of members of the police and fire departments.

This fall and winter, the Naperville Police Department is offering a number of workshops for area scouts to promote safety, provide education and insight into forensic and detective functions and to assist with scouting requirements that deal with law enforcement, including those needed for badge and rank advancement.

Junior GS Detective Badge / Oct. 12, 2015

In partnership with Safety Town, 1320 Aurora Ave., three workshops will be offered on Mon., October 12 that meet the requirements for the Junior Girl Scout Detective Badge.

Topics that will be covered include Practicing the Power of Observation, Communicating in Code, Fingerprinting, Trying out Detective Science and Following Clues to Solve a Real Mystery. Participants will observe a mock crime scene and help determine who committed the crime.

They will also make their own fingerprint card and “dust” for prints.
