Old photos highlight ‘Hawks’ spirit around town to promote tomorrow’s parade on TBT

Above / The Stanley Cup makes the rounds every year after the final. After the 2010 Blackhawks’ victory, Naperville’s Pat Herr added her own brand of humor to the experience.

Updated Post June 21, 2015 / Today’s Daily Herald features a comprehensive commemorative keepsake that captures the spirit of the dynasty that won the 2015 Stanley Cup. Young Chicago Blackhawks’ fans will treasure the 12-page insert with a cover page that’s suitable for framing. (Simply press the seam to flatten it.) Original Post June 17, 2015 / Knowing that millions of Chicago Blackhawks fans will be preoccupied on Throw Back Thursday (TBT) with the Stanley Cup victory parade “worthy of a dynasty,” we used our handy search tool to check for “Hawks” photos in our picture archive, mindful of the two other Stanley Cup victories in 2010 and 2013.

Much to our surprise, we discovered folks before and after the last two Stanley Cup victories celebrating around town in Hawks spirit gear and pitching framed commemorative items at fundraising auctions.

Just for the fun of it, we’re sharing some of those “throw back” photos here, above and below, on a Wednesday in time for folks to begin securing free tickets online for Thursday’s rally at Soldier Field.

‘Parade for a dynasty’ is set for 10AM June 18

Rain or shine, Chicago Blackhawks fans will be able to cheer above cheers for their Stanley Cup-winning team Thurs., June 18.

black-hawks-catch-DSC_6049The parade is set to begin at 10AM, stepping off at Monroe and Jefferson streets and running along Monroe Street to Michigan Avenue. A rally will follow at Soldier Field.

News sources are advising fans to take public transportation.

Free tickets for ‘Hawks’ rally

Note that tickets will be needed for the rally at Soldier Field following the parade.

According to Ticketmaster, the rally is a free ticketed “rain or shine” event and tickets are non-transferable.

No strollers will be permitted. Lots open at 5AM and gates open at 8AM. The rally is listed as beginning at 11AM.

The free tickets will go live on Ticketmaster.com at Noon 12 p.m. today Wednesday. (Update / Tickets sold out within minutes!)

Tickets will be available on a first come first served basis, and individuals are only allowed four tickets each which will be emailed to print at home.
