Summer is finally here. After another harsh winter and a cool spring, I think everyone is ready for sunshine and longer days.
With just a few days of school left, it is time to make arrangements for summer activities. Your Naperville YMCAs can give your kids the best summer ever! Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper. Our camps are accredited by the American Camping Association, which means that we maintain the highest standards for program quality.
Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, building character and leadership skills and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.
Camp teaches self-reliance and instills a love of nature and the outdoors. Children also develop attitudes and practices that help build character and leadership—all amidst the fun of talent shows, outdoor recreational activities, field trips, camp songs, crafts swimming and more. From preschool camp to C.I.T. (Counselor in Training) and Camp E.D.G.E (Educate, Develop, Give, Experience), there are a variety of day camps for children entering preschool to 9th grade, and extended hours are available for most camps.
Sports clinics at the Y Sports Complex include Camp Recess, Basketball and Shooting Clinics, Dodgeball Clinics, soccer, flag football, tennis and volleyball clinics. New this summer is an all-day sports clinic offering skill development in a variety of sports and an hour of athletic performance training that works on speed and agility.
One and two-hour camps include Wonders of Science, Break Dance, Young Artists, Exploring Theatre, Kids Cooking, Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk and Zumba.
