Edward Hospital has opened a two-floor addition to the West Building on its Naperville campus. The $63.7 million, 86,500-square-foot project, which started in mid-2012 and took about two years, features a new Orthopedic & Spine Center on the 3rd floor and Intensive Care Unit on the 4th floor.
“These new floors and rooms offer the most up-to-date technology, and comfort and conveniences for patients and their families,” said Pam Davis, CEO, Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare. “The addition is another example of Edward’s investment in the community and commitment to provide access to care.”
The Orthopedic & Spine Center includes 36 private patient rooms, a rehab gym and dedicated nursing and rehab teams. The Intensive Care Unit has 24 private patient rooms with a dedicated nursing team, state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and computers at each bedside with the capability to view patient information and imaging so nurses and doctors don’t have to leave the room.
Both new floors feature conveniences for patients and families, including a sleeper sofa so a family member can stay overnight; spacious, comfortable family waiting areas and several consultation rooms for physicians to meet with family members.
The new patient beds increase Edward’s bed inventory from 309 to 352, plus the 108 beds of Linden Oaks, Edward’s behavioral health hospital.
