How are you planning to spend your summer? Summer’s start has been pushed out a few days for area school kids. They now need to make up for those cold, snowy days spent trapped at home during our seemingly endless winter.
Hopefully the summer will be more temperate and our neighbors will be able to enjoy summer in Naperville including band concerts, festivals, Centennial Beach, the Riverwalk, parks, subdivision pools and swim clubs, and all of the other things that make our community a destination for fun seekers.
National Night Out on August 5 provides an opportunity for Block Parties and a chance to meet the community workers who add so much to Naperville quality of life. For more information and to register your neighborhood for Naperville’s 19th annual celebration, go to www.naperville.il.us/nno.aspx.
The Homeowners Confederation is taking a little break this summer, too. Our monthly general membership meetings will be on hiatus until September. This time off gives our Board a chance to line up sponsors and develop a program of meeting topics designed to inform and educate our community. These meetings, open to all, provide an opportunity for our neighbors to ask questions and get further involved by interacting with decision makers, opinion leaders, and public servants.
With federal, state, and county elections on tap in November, we are working on scheduling candidate and issue forums. We expect to announce these forums in the July timeframe and provide this year’s meeting schedule in August.
Input is welcome on our programs and we are always looking for monthly meeting sponsors. If you have ideas, or would like to volunteer, please let me know. The NAHC’s goal is to connect people to what matters most – each other, neighbor to neighbor. This connection is a two-way street and we need your involvement to succeed!
