Some 600 children’s booklovers, educators and authors are meeting from 8AM to 1PM Sat., Feb. 15, for a morning of literature and learning. Anderson’s Bookshops’ 12th Annual Children’s Literature Breakfast, a gathering of authors and professional educators interested in the best and newest in children’s literature, will be held at Bobak’s Signature Events, 6440 Double Eagle Dr. in Woodridge.

The cost for the entire morning is $55. A full breakfast is included. Advance registration is required by contacting (630) 820-2802 or visiting www.andersonsbookshop.com.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet celebrated children’s authors, plus dozens of Illinois authors and illustrators of children’s books.

Meet Henry Winkler and many more!

Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver are the authors of the hilarious and engaging new series of young readers’ books called Here’s Hank. This talented team is also responsible for the popular Ghost Buddy books, aimed at middle school readers, the stories address topics such as bullying, and living in a blended family. It features an unlikely friendship between Billy Broccoli, a young boy who wants to fit in, and Hoover Porterhouse, his super-cool ghostly roommate.

Jon Muth is the author/illustrator of several highly acclaimed picture books and now shares his latest, Hi Koo! A Year of Seasons. Lovely illustrations will charm youngsters ages 4-7.

Laurie Keller’s bright and enchanting illustrations make her books loads of fun for young readers. Her new book, out in February, is The Adventures or Arnie Doughnut: Invasion of the Ufonuts.

Aaron Reynolds is the writer of many children’s books, including his Caldecott Honor Book, Creepy Carrots. Carnivores was released this past August.

Middle grade readers love Maggie Stiefvater’s Spirit Animals series, and now she visits with Spirit Animals Book 2: Hunted. It’s an epic multiplatform fantasy series, a hero adventure with a brutal enemy, and action to capture middle grade readers.

Also, participants will learn about new award-winning and notable children’s books, have an opportunity to participate in a book talk with Anderson’s own Kathleen March, have a chance to win raffle prizes, free giveaways and to earn CPDU credits. Books will be on sale at the event as well.
