Oktoberfest is serving up beer, brats and other Bavarian tastes

-

Naper Settlement’s fifth annual Oktoberfest celebrates Naperville’s German roots until 10PM today. This year’s fundraising event features German music, German cuisine from My Chef Catering and beverages from Schamberger Bros., Inc. and Wente Family Vineyards. And it’s all happening under the big tent and in the spacious beer garden at 523 S. Webster St., continuing for the second and final day.

Friday, familiar faces from the Naperville Jaycees were enjoying the 2013 Oktoberfest experience in the beer garden at Naper Settlement.

Folks have been inquiring about the German menu and the cost, so PN called Naper Settlement at (630) 420-6010 for answers. Bavarian tastes range from $2 to $5, the spokeswoman said.

Brats come in a couple of varieties for $3.50.  A sliced pork sandwich is $5. Roasted chicken is available. Hot dogs also are being served.

Sides including German potato salad and red cabbage are $2 each. And there’s apple strudel for dessert.

Nonstop German Music

It’s nonstop German music until 8PM., beginning with Jimmy’s Bavarians, followed by Freeze Dried, The Happy Wanderers and The Polkaholics.

The Legends, with lead singer Ken Overbey of Sounds Abound, will play classic rock from the 1960s and 1970s later.

The event is a fundraiser for the Naperville Heritage Society.

Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and are available online at www.napersettlement.com until noon Oct. 3. At the gate, tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Food and beverages are available for purchase on site.
