Mo & Mike on the Move – Couple finds long weekend long

-

We don’t know about you, but we were exhausted after the long Fourth of July weekend. The days were packed and we stayed out way past our usual bedtime. (Does this mean we are getting old?)

KrolsAnyway, the weekend started out with our attending the Municipal Band Concert on July 4. A great time – some cheese, crackers, fruit and a glass of wine with great music – doesn’t get any better. The special guest drummer was phenomenal!

Then we wanted to see the fireworks and instead of going to Ribfest we went onto the top of the Van Buren parking garage by Catch 35. Little did we know that this fireworks watching spot was known to a couple of hundred other fans.

Mike got some great shots of the fireworks. We definitely will do it again.

We then joined some friends who had just come back from a river cruise from Paris to Normandy. We have heard many wonderful things about the river cruises in Europe and definitely are looking to schedule one for ourselves in the future. Who can say no to a great vacation?

The next day we went to see a baseball game in Schaumburg – the River City Rascals vs. the Schaumburg Bloomers. We went with three of my siblings to see our nephew. He recently graduated from University of Kentucky with a master’s degree in Athletic Training and took his first job with the Rascals. I’m sure he was the only trainer with a cheering section and we are positive that the team was teasing him about that fact. It was great to see him again and to see how he has matured into a wonderful young man.

And, oh, by the way, the baseball field in Schaumburg is a little gem. We loved watching all the little kids running the bases after the game. It was so cute to watch.

Saturday was golfed at Orchard Valley in Aurora. We won’t talk about the score.

Finally, Sunday was a day to lay low and recharge. And that was our Fourth of July weekend!
