Mo & Mike on the Move – Keeping up with the traditions, old and new

-

Well, this column is written by me (Mike) and edited (thankfully) by Mo.

KrolsSince starting in my new position as CEO of Naper Settlement, the job has kept me busy.

For instance, I attended Naperville’s Second Annual Fair Lady Award Banquet where Stephanie Penick received the third annual award presented at Center Stage Theater by Kandiss Hernandez, founder of Fair Lady Productions. The honor was richly deserved for all that she has done to highlight and identify all of the activities within our community.

Then I was off to the Citizen’s Academy, coordinated by the City of Naperville, and held that same night at Naper Settlement. This program offers 25 local citizens a chance to get an insider’s view of how our city works. The evening included a tour of the Martin Mitchell Mansion and a look at future plans for the Settlement.

Finally, the last stop that evening was the first concert of the season at Central Park with the Municipal Band. It was a little chilly, but is definitely a sign that summer has arrived in Naperville.

The fourth weekend in June included the first Naper Nights concerts held on Friday and Saturday nights. Even though the rains came down during the day, the concerts at night went off without a hitch. The grounds were great, the rains held off and I believe that everyone had a great time. The weather both nights was great with a nice breeze.

Naper Settlement is a great place for a concert—hope to see you for the next Naper Nights—July 26 and July 27.
