KidsMatter in Naperville will present its second annual benefit showcase concert at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College on Wednesday, April 17. The program will showcase the finest music, dance, comedy, magic and theatrical talents of junior high and high school students from Naperville School Districts 203 and 204 and Benet Academy. The Gala Concert will be highlighted by a performance by Naperville singer and American Idol finalist Gina Glocksen.
Hey, Teens! Audition February 16
Auditions will be held for music, dance and theatre acts on Saturday, February 16 at the School of Performing Arts at Fifth Avenue Station in Naperville from 1-4PM. Groups are invited to audition a piece of up to three minutes in length and will need to provide their own accompaniment. For audition information, visit www.kidsmatter2us.org or search “KidsMatter Ignite the Night” on Facebook.
The production will be professionally directed by actor/director Elic Bramlett. “We want to see kid’s individual personalities come out in their work,” said Bramlett. “We are looking for original, authentic, ethnically diverse and inspiring acts.”
Only performance-ready pieces will be considered. Those unable to do a live audition may submit a videotaped audition by 5PM on February 17, following all audition instructions.
“This is a unique opportunity for young performers to share one of the finest performance venues in the country with a nationally-recognized vocal talent,” says KidsMatter Executive Director IdaLynn Wenhold. “Our organization is all about celebrating kids and enabling them to realize the enormous possibilities available to them. This concert is a natural extension of those efforts, and will help raise funds for our educational efforts, Job Fair, Volunteer Fair and Skater’s Picnic.”

Editor’s Note: The 2012 production, also directed by Elic Bramlett and staged at The Wentz, created a seamless showcase of talented performers from local high schools that we always will remember as a most exceptional array of fine entertainment. Be sure to mark your calendar for April 17. Then watch for notices of ticket sales to help sell-out the performance for a great cause. Thanks for supporting the arts.
