The folks at 360 Youth Services are coordinating a new resource for young adults who barely have the clothes on their backs. It’s called MY CLOSET.
Created by 360 Youth Services Residential Program Director, Debbie Carr, the clothing resource for youth in their program will have available all types of clothing including shoes, underwear and outerwear. Thanks to Eagle Scout Riley Hoyt and his crew, the basement at the administrative offices of 360 Youth Services has been transformed into MY CLOSET.
Throughout the year, 360 Youth Services provides housing for 60-70 homeless youth. Many of the young adults who enter the program arrive without a change of clothing. MY CLOSET will be a place for youth to shop for new clothes that fit their tastes, help them fit into society, and dissolve the barriers to being a homeless youth.
“We want all the young adults in our housing programs to fit in with the kids who attend the schools in our area,” said Carr. “We are seeking donations of new clothing, shoes, and accessories of all kinds, so these young adults in need of clothing can go to MY CLOSET—in effect, their closet.”
Donations welcome
Going forward, the nonprofit agency seeks new and gently-used clothing items to stock MY CLOSET, providing clothing to outfit youngsters who may need clothing to attend school, go to work or look for employment.
MY CLOSET also will carry clothing suitable for job interviews and special occasions, like high school graduations. MY CLOSET clothing and accessories will be available for no charge to youth in the program.
