The Exchange Club Elves have been busy shopping for families in the area who are in need of assistance. Through the Community Service Committee, members will take part in the “Adopt A Family” program.
Because of 25 years of the continual success of Ribfest, the committee now is able to set $10,000 aside for this wonderful program. Local agencies submit names of families who wouldn’t have a Christmas for their children with out a little help. The Exchange Club members are assigned a family who they will go and buy Christmas presents. It is a very wonderful, amazing day when the families receive their gifts. It is a very rewarding feeling to see the delight in the parent’s faces to know that their children will have a merry Christmas.
On another note, I’d like to recognize two Exchange Club members, Anna Zimmermann and Dave Wentz, who were instrumental in helping to produce the “Healing Field of Honor” displayed over Veterans Day on Rotary Hill. I lost count of the many positive comments about what a wonderful site the flags were. It was an overwhelming feeling to experience the magnificence of 2,012 American flags. The patriotic exhibit brought a tear to many eyes that week. Thank you, Anna and Dave, and your entire committee.
I also want to recognize the Excel Club (formerly Junior Exchange) for the Breaking Free Dinner. Through the kindness of a local banquet owner, many local families enjoy a holiday meal. Thanks to Roz Morris and a large group of Exchange Club members, these families enjoy a meal that otherwise would not be possible.
Thanks to all. Enjoy this wondrous season and happy New Year, too.
