Not only is the Exchange Club of Naperville a wonderful organization that has given millions of dollars back to help social services in the community, it’s also a family.
Last January, I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Members of the Exchange Club, as well as my family, friends, and my City of Naperville family, all supported me and helped in many ways. They set up a Food Train and brought me meals, they sat with me during chemo, they took me to the doctor when I had an emergency, and they visited me in the hospital. I am blessed!
Being told you have cancer is devastating. I am thankful that I had great doctors through DuPage Medical and Rush. They had me on a plan and with only a few bumps in the road, it worked.
The American Cancer Society is also available to assist with free wigs and make-up demonstrations. I must say, drawing on eye brows was not an easy task.
With everything I went through, my Exchange Family was there for me. They made it easier to get through this terrible ordeal. I am very thankful to have them in my life.
I’m doing well now. I’m all through with my treatments. My hair is growing back, now white and curly. It’s a lot different from my long blonde hair, but I like it and I’m alive. That’s the best part.
Many readers knew of my situation, but I wanted to let you know what great support I got from the community, especially the Exchange Club and the City of Naperville.
