Every December the Excel (Jr. Exchange) Club, with the help of Exchangite Roz Morris and others, host the annual Breaking Free Christmas Dinner.
This year’s breakfast is December 2 at LaSierra in Aurora. The owner of LaSierra graciously donates the use of his banquet facility and cooks the meal that serves over 600 people. The Naperville Costco also donates bread and desserts.
Breaking Free, a local social service agency, invites the families for this annual event. Members of the Junior Exchange Club work all year to prepare for this feast. They raise funds at Ribfest by selling glow sticks and other novelty items.
The members also put together fun activities for the children, making sure each child receives a present. The event is a way for the members of Junior Exchange to give back to the community. Another way the Exchange Club gives back to the nonprofits in the community is by allocating funds from Ribfest.
In addition to grants, stage entertainers sign guitars that have been donated to the following organizations for their raffles: National Exchange Club received a guitar from Blue Oyster Cult; Evangelical Child & Family, BoDeans; Little Friends, Brynn Marie; WDSRA, Del Castillo; KidsMatter, Fog Hat; Community Career Center, George Thorogood; People’s Resource Center, Love & Theft; Mutual Ground, Roger Hodgson; DuPage PADS, Sonny Landreth; and Will Co. Child Advocacy Center, The Henningsens.
Members of our Exchange Club are grateful to be part of such a supportive, generous and giving community. Thanks to you, we’re able to give back to these organizations.
