Above / Kitchen fire in the 500 Block of Beaconsfield Avenue appears to be caused by unattended cooking. At 6:37 this evening , Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident reporting a fire involving a single-family home.
A general alarm was dispatched to the reported structure fire. A general alarm assignment consists of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances, and two shift commanders. Within five minutes of the initial 911 call, Engine 5 arrived on scene, had smoke coming from the roof line and established command.
Engine 5 verified everyone was out of the house and deployed a hand-line to extinguish the fire in the kitchen. Within 15 minutes of the initial 911 call, command advised that the main body of the fire was extinguished. Salvage and overhaul was performed on the interior of the house, a search was conducted, along with smoke removal, and extinguishment of any hidden fire.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department and Transportation, Engineering, Development (TED), Nicor, Naperville Electric Department, and The American Red Cross. The Bolingbrook FD, Plainfield FPD, Westmont FD, Downers Grove FD, and Lockport FPD all provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of this fire was determined to be from unattended cooking.
