Naperville loves its West Suburban Irish parades as pictured in photo galleries

-

Flash back to photos from recent West Suburban Irish St. Patrick’s Parades, spectators along the parade route and more. Since 1993, when the popular holiday does not fall on March 17, it’s been a tradition for members of the  West Suburban Irish to host its St. Patrick’s Parade on the Saturday prior to St. Patrick’s Day.

Century Walk portrays ‘Naperville Loves a Parade’

Above / Since 2012, Naperville Loves a Parade, a Century Walk mural by artists Dodie Mondero, Adela Vystejnova, and Marianne Lisson Kuhn, has graced the south wall of “Rubins Way,” the alleyway between the GAP and Talbot’s on the west side of Main Street, practically across from Dean’s Fine Clothing in downtown Naperville.

The colorful mural faces the Parade of the Century mural, painted in sepia tones and black and white by artist Adela Vystejnova.

Above / Since 2011, the Parade of the Century mural has depicted a Naperville parade across time beginning in 1900 and continuing through the end of the 20th century. The historic images showcase the Naperville Memorial Day Parade and the Jaycees Labor Day Parade with the Naperville Municipal Band and high school marching bands as well as the  WSI St. Patrick’s Parade with bagpipers and Irish dancers.
