The City will share a draft of the new Naperville comprehensive master plan at an open house-style meeting to be held from 5:30 to 7PM, with a presentation at 6PM, on Mon., Dec. 9. The open house will take place in Meeting Rooms A & B of the Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.
Attend ‘first look’ of new plan to guide growth & development
During the meeting, attendees will get a first look at the new plan, the result of an update process that has taken place during 2019.
Naperville’s comprehensive master plan serves as a guide for growth and development in the City, providing direction to those seeking to develop their land, as well as decision makers who approve requests. A vision and guiding principles statement, which will serve as a foundation for the plan, is now available on the City’s website.
New Comprehensive Master Plan is result of community feedback
The new plan will incorporate resident feedback gathered through in-person events and online tools in 2019, including community workshops, stakeholder interviews and web-based surveys. In all, 675 instances of engagement were recorded, highlighting several key themes. This input will be reflected in the final Naperville comprehensive master plan that will be shared on Dec. 9. A summary of this feedback is available on the City’s website.
The new comprehensive master plan will address issues such as gaps in the City’s housing market, aging commercial areas, environmental sustainability and changing technology. It will also recommend land-use designations for 10 geographic areas within the City’s planning boundaries. Houseal Lavigne Associates LLC, a consulting firm specializing in community planning, is completing the plan update.
