Did someone say summer is almost over?
… Say it isn’t so!
But when I saw the signs for Last Fling, I knew it was true.
Well, my summer this year was very exciting for me. My column this month is going to be a bit different – I am not writing about a dinner I had in a Naperville restaurant or at home, I am writing about the experience I had in the mountains of Montana.
My mom and her finance, Brad, got married this July in the Louis and Clark National Park in the mountains of Montana. Brad’s family has a cabin there and it was a perfect setting.
I first visited the cabin three years ago and I learned how to fly fish. I learned how to catch my breakfast, lunch and dinner and how to prepare the fish and cook it on the open fire outside.
During our trip this July, we did not catch our meals, we were there for a wedding, but I have to say that I had the biggest steak I have ever seen and it was delicious!
The best part of this trip for me was walking my mom down the aisle (a mowed mountain grass path) along with my grandpa and seeing my mom and Brad say their vows to one another with me and my two new sisters beside them.
It was picture perfect with the sound of the creek that I fished in and the view of the mountains we hiked in all around us. The memories will last for all of us for a lifetime.
So if you’re ever in the mountains near Stanford, Montana, and need some R & R and some great fly fishing, I know a perfect spot! And tell them Jack sent ya!
