This year, May Day was set aside to introduce a new seasonal tradition at Naperville Plaza, a day-long event designed especially for women. Oh! What a beautiful morning it was to kick off “Girls on Gartner!”
By the end of the day, hundreds of visitors had toured the participating businesses. One of the businesses, First Community Bank Naperville, welcomed more than 400 guests.
“For every person who stopped by our bank for a punch on her card, First Community Bank donated one dollar to Family Shelter Service,” said Mary Jane Leisten, a personal banker at First Community Bank Naperville.
Leisten explained that since the event focused on women, they chose an organization to help raise awareness for the needs of women.
After the success of Girls on Gartner, Leisten credited Nicki Anderson of Oswald’s Pharmacy with organizing the attractive event. Anderson, center, joined Leisten to present Amanda Wapiennik, Volunteer Program Coordinator at Family Shelter Service, with a special gift.
