Independence Day Closures! Many local businesses are closed on Sat., July 4, to recognize the spirit of this nation since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. NOTE! Because the Fourth of July is a federal holiday, banks, post offices, other government offices and the stock market will be closed Friday. That said, many employees at local restaurants and other businesses will be available along with other individuals and first responders, and all of whom will be working so the rest of the community can enjoy the holiday. Naperville Municipal Band Patriotic Concert with Cannons
7:30PM at Naperville Community Concert Center – Central Park in Downtown Naperville
The big blast of live cannons will punctuat the annual Independence Day tribute concert performed by the Naperville Municipal Band in Central Park. A longstanding musical tradition that began at the request of former Naperville Mayor Chester Rybicki several decades ago, concertgoers will celebrate America 250. Civil War reenactors will manage six vintage cannons that sound off to accompany the “1812 Overture.” This year will also include the Naperville Chorus.
Keep in mind to stay hydrated by bringing water bottles during the expected high temperatures. For refills, a water fountain is located outside the restrooms, just northwest of the concert center.

Guests can meet Abraham Lincoln and hear him deliver his famous speech, attend a Civil War Fashion Show, make fireworks in a jar, and more at this family-fun event. Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with Naperville Responds For Veterans at the 4-mile Freedom Ruck March and Birthday Bash Block Party on July 4. Rain or shine! Registration and check-in begin at 7AM, followed by opening ceremonies and the start of the Ruck at 8AM from the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, located behind the Judd Kendall VFW at 912 Honorary Sindt Memorial Ct., Naperville, IL 60540. Ruck packs are not required, and all community members are welcome to join the walk and celebration. The Naperville Municipal Band will perform a special patriotic concert in south Naperville before the fireworks at Wagner Pavilion in Frontier Park adjacent to the library.

For the fourth year in a row, Naperville will host a free fireworks show in celebration of Independence Day at the Frontier Sports Complex, 3380 Cedar Glade Dr. Fireworks will begin at 9:30PM on Saturday, July 4, 2026. There is no charge for admission or parking. Those attending can watch from a field within the park or from their vehicles. The complex has 906 parking spaces, with an additional 1,000 parking spaces at Neuqua Valley High School, 2360 95th St.

Reminder! 2026 National Night Out returns Aug. 4 / Register NOW!
Remember to register for the annual National Night Out in Naperville, set again for the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods planning to host events together or as individual subdivisions need to register requests in by July 6, 2026.
The annual event that brings awareness to public safety, crime and drug prevention, uniting the communities via neighborhoods all across the nation, will be hosted on Tues., Aug. 4. The City Council will not meet that evening.
