May 6 was one of those moments that I know will live on in the history of Loaves & Fishes Community Services and our community for years to come. Standing alongside our lead donors, partners, board members, and staff as we broke ground on Hub 2.0, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude, hope, and excitement for what this next chapter will mean for our neighbors.
Hub 2.0 represents so much more than a building expansion. It is the centerpiece of our larger Nourish Together Campaign — a bold vision for the future that will expand our ability to end hunger and transform lives. It is a promise to our neighbors that, during difficult times, they will not face those challenges alone. This expansion will allow Loaves & Fishes to serve two to three times as many neighbors across DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will counties while strengthening partnerships with local pantries throughout the region. As the need for food assistance continues to grow, we are rising to meet that call with compassion, innovation, and a deep commitment to our community.
What has moved me the most is the reminder that none of this happens alone. This moment is possible because people throughout our community continue to show up in extraordinary ways. Donors, volunteers, partners, and local leaders are coming together around a shared belief that every person deserves access to healthy food, resources, dignity, and hope.
There is something incredibly inspiring about living in a community where people truly care for one another. At a time when the world can feel divided and uncertain, this project is proof that we are still willing to lift each other up when it matters most.
