Downtown Naperville Unleashes Dog Days of Summer

-

Above / Dogs are out and about after hanging out inside, ready to go, for today’s big reveal throughout downtown Naperville. (Photos courtesy DNA) Below / Among 24 dog sculptures is one cat named “Frida Katlo,” creatively painted by artist Angela Morgan, with flower designs resembling the work of renowned artist Frida Kahlo, thanks to Pinot’s Palette.

Wednesday morning Pam Bartlett, owner of Pinot’s Palette, took time to talk about the one only cat sculpture among 24 dog sculptures. Find Frida Katlo along Jackson Avenue.

All ages are invited to see the painted dog sculptures in Downtown Naperville, starting the first week of June and running through early September. The Dog Days of Summer are sure to be “pawsitively awesome,” according DNA Executive Director Katie Wood.

Catch a glimpse of 24 dogs in varying shapes and sizes and one cat sculpture dotting the landscape throughout downtown just a day or two in advance of the Riverwalk Duck Race, at 11AM on Fri., June 5.

Note also, as soon as the pets are set, a map will be posted under “events” at www.downtownnaperville.com. (You’ll also be able to vote for your favorite sculpture once they are revealed.)

IMPORTANT REMINDER

All sculptures are works of art and the property of various sponsoring businesses and/or their artists. Kindly note it’s OK to stand beside the sculptures for pictures. In fact, downtown hopes you enjoy photos with the pups. Yet, SITTING IS NOT ALLOWED on the sculptures as it may cause them to break, get damaged or ruin the artistry. Thank you.

One more thing...The Riverwalk Duck Race is set for 11AM Fri., June 5. Duck number sales continue while supply last until 11:59PM Thurs., June 4. Be sure to have your ducks in order! Order a Ten-Buck Duck just for the fun of it. Thank you. (And you don’t have to be present to win!)
