Historic Trolley Tour of Naperville

Discover the charm and history of Naperville with the Historic Trolley Tour, a favorite experience among both visitors and locals.

This engaging one-hour tour offers a unique glimpse into the city’s rich past and vibrant present, guided by the delightful “Trolley Chick” Annette Wehrli. Annette’s storytelling combines fascinating historical facts with fun anecdotes, making the journey through downtown Naperville, the Historic District, North Central College, and the Century Walk Art truly memorable.

To join this unforgettable adventure, reservations are required and can be easily made online at www.napervilletrolley.com/book-public-tours. The tour costs $25 per person, suitable for all ages, and departs promptly at 11AM from the “Trolley Stop” located at the southeast corner of Jackson Avenue and Eagle Street. Arrive ten minutes early to ensure a smooth start. Enjoy the comfort of the fully enclosed trolley, which operates rain or shine. The tours are available every Tuesday at 11AM throughout June, July and August 2026.

For those interested in a more personalized experience, private tours can be arranged by contacting Naperville Trolley at annette@napervilletrolley.com, subject to availability.

Children’s 20-minute Trolley Ride

In addition to the main tour, families with young children will love the 20-minute Children’s Trolley Ride. This shorter excursion is designed especially for little ones eager to ring the bell and enjoy children’s music while spotting Naperville’s landmarks.

The ride departs at 10:30AM from the same iconic trolley stop and costs $10 per person, accommodating all ages. Please note that strollers are not permitted on this ride. Like the longer tour, the children’s ride runs regardless of weather conditions and requires advance reservations via the same website.

Offered on Tuesdays during the summer months of 2026, the Children’s Trolley Ride shares the same dates as the historic tour, making it easy to plan a day full of fun and learning for the whole family.

When taking the tour this summer, be sure to look for the only cat in town. Cat sculpture, that is!

The only cat sculpture among all the dog sculptures is located along Jackson Avenue. Look for “Frida Katlo” as the Trolley begins its weekly Tuesday tour just past Egg Harbor. (PN Photo)

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
