On the first day of spring, March 20, a group of Brownie Scouts dedicated time after school to pick up litter from Baskin Robbins at Hillside Road and along the Riverwalk extension toward Fredenhagen Park.
All the way, the two scout leaders asked questions that engaged the youngsters from Highland Elementary in thoughts about keeping the Riverwalk and all outdoors free from trash and wads of gum. Yes! Lots of gum had accumulated on the floor of the Jaycees Gazebo and the Brownies from GS USA 56599 removed all of it.
The Brownies were wearing disposable gloves and their attention to detail was “above and beyond,” and greatly appreciated by everyone who observed their spirit of volunteerism.
After their task was deemed complete, their troop headed toward a sweet shop in downtown Naperville for a special treat.
