In an emergency, every second counts and knowing how to respond could make the difference between life and death.
For seniors, learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is extremely valuable. Not only does CPR training equip seniors with the skills to help loved ones, neighbors, or even strangers, but it builds confidence and fosters a sense of readiness to help. With heart-related emergencies impacting seniors, the ability to act quickly can be crucial.
Recognizing this need, the Naperville Senior Task Force, in partnership with the Naperville Fire Department, continues to offer its popular “Silver CPR” program – a free CPR training class designed specifically for seniors. The class focuses on hands-only CPR, presented at a pace and style tailored to senior learners. Instructors emphasize practical, easy-to-remember techniques that empower participants to intervene safely and effectively during cardiac emergencies.
Upcoming Silver CPR classes for 2026 will be offered on February 18, May 19, September 16, and November 10 at the Naperville Safety Town. Each class provides comprehensive instruction from trained fire department personnel, along with hands-on practice and questions. Participants can register for either a morning or afternoon class.
Organizers encourage all seniors regardless of physical ability or prior training to attend. As members of the task force often say, CPR is a skill you hope you never have to use, but one that can save a life if you do.
The class is free, but class size is limited, so registration is required. To register, contact silvercpr2026@gmail.com.
Carpe Diem!
