Nutrition Knowledge – The Year in Review

-

As we prepare to wave goodbye to 2025, let’s remember the 25 healthy food options we explored. Were we successful in adding some of these to our meals? Did we choose some of these foods over others that aren’t the healthiest options? Giving ourselves a good nutritional foundation is all about making choices every day that move our body toward a healthier profile. Incorporating new foods not only opens up new nutrients, but new variety and flavors.

  1. Blueberry
  2. Pomegranate
  3. Eggs
  4. Garlic
  5. Onion
  6. Brussels sprouts
  7. Cauliflower
  8. Arugula
  9. Baby Kale
  10. Omega 3 fat source
  11. Quality tallow or butter
  12. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  13. Herring
  14. Sardines
  15. Salmon
  16. Oysters
  17. Pistachios
  18. Pumpkin seeds
  19. Honey
  20. Cultured cheese
  21. Yogurt/kefir
  22. Sourdough
  23. Sprouted grains
  24. Grass-fed meat
  25. Dark meat poultry

What can these choices look like going into December as we prepare to welcome friends and family or attend parties and get-togethers. Bring a charcuterie board to a party: choose cultured hard and soft cheese, sourdough crostini, raw honey and pomegranate arils. This will liven up not only the color and flavor, but will add nutritious options.

Gifting to neighbors? Instead of sugar cookies, how about some pistachios or lightly seasoned and roasted pumpkin seeds in a mason jar?

Preparing the holiday meal? A festive salad with arugula, baby kale, chopped egg, blueberries and pumpkin seeds will look beautiful and be a great start to a meal. Mix up a healthy Honey Dijon dressing instead of store bought dressings.

We have so many options from which to choose… make this season and all of 2026 a little healthier! Blessings to all of you for abundant love and joy in the coming year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
