September has arrived, and while it marks the transition from summer, let’s lean into all the experiences that the sunset of summer still offers. Embrace September in Naperville, where summer warmth lingers and vibrant activities await!
We felt the heat this summer, but now are looking forward to September’s cooler evenings paired with alfresco dining! Savor delicious bites on charming patios at restaurants like Lazy Dog, Gia Mia, Meson Sabika, Tapville Social, and Vai’s.
Farmers markets continue downtown at both Naper Settlement and 5th Avenue Station through September, where you’ll find live music and a variety of unique items, fresh produce and beautiful blooms from a host of local vendors.
Naper Settlement also hosts a robust range of other activities, including architecture and cemetery walking tours, family STEM nights, floral sales, and escape-room-style experiences that immerse you in history.
September is also the perfect time for tailgating at North Central College! Get in the spirit of the game and invite friends and family for the weekend; there are plenty of options for a stay in one of our 18 Naperville hotels.
You can’t beat an outdoor festival, and Naperville hosts several this month, including the lively celebrations of the Hispanic Heritage Festival and Irish Fest. Other favorite September events include the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair, a top-rated art festival in its 40th year, and the popular Downtown Naperville Fall Wine Walk.
Appreciate nature with a stroll along the Riverwalk. Or visit Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve, McDowell Grove Forest Preserve or the DuPage River Trail for even more opportunities to hike, bike and explore nature with endless picnic opportunities. Kayaking or canoeing is also popular, with multiple launch locations throughout Naperville.
Individuals up for a challenge can golf at one of our six golf courses or try pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, on courts at DuPage River Sports Complex, Nike Sports Complex, Wolf’s Crossing, or various parks.
These ideas only scratch the surface on ways to enjoy September; get out and make it your own!
