This afternoon at the approximate time of 1:55PM, Naperville Police Officers were called to a trailhead at the southwest corner of Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve, near the intersection of 83rd Street and Chandelle Drive, for the report of a dead body discovered in the prairie. Officers arrived on scene and were led through a dense area of high grass to the body. The clothing of the deceased matched the clothing that Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede was last seen wearing. At this time we continue to believe that no foul play is suspected.
“While we believe the individual to be Sinmi, the final confirmation will be made by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office,” said Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres. “We are deeply saddened by this loss and extend our sincere condolences to the Abosede family during this difficult time. Thank you to everyone in our community who assisted with this investigation and for your care and concern. We ask that everyone keep the family in your thoughts and respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
“Our hearts go out to Sinmi’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” said Forest Preserve District Police Chief David Pederson. “We will continue to work closely with the Naperville Police Department and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office to ensure this investigation is thorough and respectful.”
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Police is leading the death investigation in collaboration with the Naperville Police Department.
Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve remains open to the public. There is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Update, Aug. 4, 2025 / Message from Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres / Naperville Police Continue Search for Missing Adult
On Monday, Aug. 4, Naperville Police conducted a systematic search of Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve in an effort to locate Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede, 46, of Naperville, who was reported missing on Wednesday, July 30.
The search was conducted with the assistance of the Naperville Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and area law enforcement. More than 40 trained volunteers, eight K9 teams, and multiple experienced police drone operators participated in the search. While today’s search did not lead officials to Abosede’s whereabouts, the Naperville Police Department’s efforts to locate Abosede will continue.
Detectives have been following up on leads, searching the area, and investigating Abosede’s whereabouts since she was reported missing by family on Wednesday.

Abosede was last seen at approximately 9:20AM on July 30 walking away from her home on the 2100 block of Sudbury Street in Naperville. (Sudbury Street is located south of 83rd Street and north of 87th, east of Route 59 and west of Book Road.) She is described as a black female with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 foot 6 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. Abosede was last seen wearing a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket, grey sweatpants, a black head scarf, and black Crocs. She was carrying a white water bottle, and apparently left her cell phone, credit cards and other personal items behind.
Foul play is not suspected in her disappearance
“I understand that the uncertainty surrounding Sinmi’s disappearance is concerning, and I assure you that this department is doing everything we can to find Sinmi,” said Police Chief Jason Arres. “We will continue to follow up on any leads and lean on the expertise of our partners at NEMA and surrounding law enforcement agencies, who I want to thank for their dedicated efforts today.
“We know there are a lot of community members who want to help, too,” Chief Arres continued. “I would ask that they continue to circulate Sinmi’s picture and keep their eyes open as they travel throughout the region. The more eyes we have looking out for her, the better.”

The Naperville Police Department will communicate any major developments in this case but does not intend to provide regular updates on the status of the investigation.
Update from NPD, 4:50PM August 2, 2025 / We wanted to update the public on our efforts to locate Sinmi. NPD has utilized K9 units, drones, and we are working with the Naperville Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA ), an organization of trained volunteers who specialize in ground search missions. We have searched many of the local areas and will continue our efforts into the upcoming week.

Abosede was last seen walking in the 2100 block of Sudbury Street in Naperville.
Abosede is described as a black female with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 foot 6 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds.
Camera footage shows Abosede walking away wearing a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket, grey sweatpants, a black head scarf, and black Crocs. The only possession she is believed to have with her is a white water bottle.

Foul play is not suspected in her disappearance.
