On Sun., Aug. 10, 2025, at the approximate time of 1:52AM, the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Washington Street and School Street for the report of a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. Responding officers arrived and found a blue 2022 Yamaha motorcycle on its side with heavy damage. The operator of the motorcycle was unresponsive.
The operator of the Yamaha was identified as a 28-year-old man from Aurora. Life-saving measures were attempted; however, the Aurora man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the operator of the Yamaha was traveling northbound on Washington Street near Douglas Avenue when the motorcycle left the roadway, and slid on its side, before both the operator and motorcycle struck a small retaining wall.
Due to the nature of the crash, Traffic Crash Investigators from the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate. The intersection, as well as parts of Washington Street, were closed in both directions until approximately 6:30AM.
