This summer the Naperville Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is thrilled to welcome Julie Byrne as its new Director of Sales.
Julie comes with decades of experience in the industry working for various Hotel brands in Chicago and the suburbs, most recently coming from the Complex Director of Sales position at Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop and Hilton Garden Inn.
“Julie brings a wealth of hotel sales experience and a proven track record of building relationships in order to enhance businesses and tourism,” noted Monica Conners, President of Naperville Development Partnership, the CVB’s parent economic development organization. “With her approach and experience, Julie will be an excellent resource for our hospitality community.”
This key role is responsible for business development efforts to increase hotel and conference bookings, manage key client relationships, and promote tourism in Naperville. Key components of these efforts include attending trade shows, organizing out of market sales visits and supporting activities under “Visit & Dine Naperville.”
Julie was drawn to this position in Naperville, partly due to long-standing connections to the community, which began with growing up nearby enjoying summer fun at Centennial Beach. As a parent, a family membership to the DuPage Children’s Museum kept Julie coming back to Naperville with her three kids, who now actively participate in sports and spend many hours on Naperville baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
Byrne says, “Naperville has always held a special place in my heart,” so when this opportunity presented itself, she “jumped at the chance to be part of this incredible city.”
Byrne notes that Naperville, with its impressive variety of hotels and world-class amenities, is a perfect example of “a place where I believe my sales experience can really shine. The diverse hotel brands, along with an outstanding dining and shopping scene, present endless opportunities for corporate meetings, individual travelers and social events.”
She is hitting the ground running visiting properties, venues, and restaurants and attending trade shows specific to communities like Naperville to build relationships and market the City as a destination of choice.
