Consider a few notes on current 2026 campaign season…

Hopefuls running in the 2026 Primary Election began passing petitions on Aug. 5, 2025, to get on the Primary ballot. Contenders filed their petitions by Nov. 3. Be prepared for opportunities to meet candidates, support their candidacies and spread the word about their qualifications (or not) to family, friends and neighbors.

The 2026 Primary Election is set for Tues., March 17, when Illinois voters elect candidates to run in the Midterm General Election on Nov. 3, 2026, vying to serve as public officials in Washington, Springfield, DuPage County and Will County.

Are you a registered Naperville voter? Folks who reside in Naperville (DuPage or Will County) can register to vote during regular business hours at the Naperville Municipal Center. Residents must provide two forms of identification—one form must display current name and address. Simply stop by the Community Services Department (aka City Clerk’s Office), City of Naperville, 400 S. Eagle Street. For more info, call (630) 305-5300 or email NapervilleClerks@naperville.il.us.

NOTE! Illinois Statutes (10 ILCS 5/7-43) provide that no person shall be allowed to vote a party ballot in the Primary Election if the person signed the nominating petition of any candidate of another party or an independent candidate for any office for which such candidate is to be voted for at that primary election. If a voter requests the ballot of another party in the Primary Election, that voter’s right to vote that party’s ballot could be challenged in the polling place.

Click Here for list of ALL Illinois hopefuls on ballot as of Nov. 3, 2025.

Early Primary Voting begins Feb. 5, 2026

Early voting in Illinois is set to begin 40 days before Election Day (March 17, 2026) and ends on the day before the election. That means Early Voting will begin Feb. 5, 2026, for the Primary on March 17, 2026. The General Mid-term Election is Nov. 3, 2026.

To be clear, this info may seem repetitious. Simply remember the 2026 Primary Elections in Illinois are along political party lines. Thank you.

Interested in Vote by Mail? Though historically, PN enjoys the experience of voting on Election Day with a paper ballot, we’re keenly aware of the growing interest in Vote by Mail. Naperville voters are encouraged to check out the links to Vote by Mail in DuPage County OR Vote by Mail in Will County.

Government Offices

Local matters most!

Thanks for taking time to be informed…

Get to know elected officials, especially the ones elected to serve Naperville. Become acquainted with the public policies they propose and advance. Watch public meetings whenever possible to avoid hearsay and/or comments taken out of context. Soundbites don’t always tell the story.

The Naperville community seeks reasonable, responsible and qualified women and men to serve during every election cycle. Pay attention now and consider the opportunity to serve on local boards and commissions to prepare for a run for public office to serve the City and other governing bodies.

The next Naperville Consolidated Election is set for April 6, 2027. Local matters most. The Consolidated Election Primary will be held Nov. 3, 2026. Naperville Consolidated Municipal Elections are nonpartisan.

Beginning in January 2027, PN will aim to keep voters posted regarding candidates, meet-and-greet events and fundraisers for hopefuls eager to earn votes in the April 2027 Consolidated Election as well as important early voting schedules.

Find hyperlinks to public service beyond Naperville borders!

The 2025 Consolidated Election was Tues., April 1, 2025. This post of public servants was updated after candidates were sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the State of Illinois.

What is a Democrat?

What is a Republican?

What is a libertarian, small “l”? According to folks at the CATO Institute, “libertarianism is a philosophy of peace, freedom, toleration and individual rights.”

As David Boaz wrote in his work titled Libertarianism: A Primer, “Libertarianism is the view that each person has the right to live his life in any way he chooses so long as he respects the equal rights of others.”

Those ideals have played an important role for all advocates of freedom throughout American history.

Libertarians have been fighting ignorance, superstition, privilege and power for centuries. Libertarians reject bigotry and advocate equal rights for every individual.
