Naperville Park District Report

The Naperville Park District is seeking community input on proposed improvements to add, expand and update recreational amenities at Nike Sports Complex, located at 1520 N. Mill Street. Residents can provide feedback via an online questionnaire available at napervilleparks.org/location/nikesportscomplex from Friday, July 25, to Fri., Aug. 8, 2025.

The community input received will be considered by Park District staff in finalizing improvement plans and preparing an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant. The planned improvements are based on feedback received in 2024 in the development of the Nike Sports Complex Master Plan and the Playground and Water Play Enlargement Plan.

Construction for the site improvements is anticipated to take place throughout 2027 and 2028. To view both improvement plans and future project updates, visit the Nike Sports Complex webpage.

PN FYI / A little history about Nike Park, named for Greek God of Victory

The above page was featured in the Naperville Sun, April 25, 2001, one of a four-page story by Ron Pazola, complete with vintage photos. Copies of the newspaper were provided by Naperville native Tom Kuhn, mindful that many residents are unaware of how the now-popular sports complex, formerly a missile installation, truly received its “Nike” name.
