Update, June 11, 2025 / Note a few photos from the annual Tulip Bulb Giveaway on June 11, 2025, coordinated by the Downtown Naperville Alliance with assistance from the City, the Naperville Park District and the Alive Center. According to Kerri Chval from Downtown Naperville Alliance, many individuals were in line by 9:50AM to select 12 tulip bulbs from the large crates at Main Street and Van Buren. Thanks to all… Tulips likely will bloom again! (Photos by AMP for PN)
Original Post, June 9, 2025 / Remember all those beautifully bloomin’ tulips that filled the sidewalk flower gardens throughout downtown Naperville earlier this spring?
Downtown Naperville Alliance Executive Director Katie Wood said Friday that all the tulip bulbs, assorted colors, will be available absolutely free to anyone who wants them beginning at 10AM this Wed., June 11, during the annual Tulip Bulb Giveaway.
In addition to tulip bulbs from displays in downtown, a wide variety of colorful bulbs from Naperville Park District gardens also will be available by the dozen or less. Organizers note the tulip bulbs go quickly and they always hope there are enough bulbs for everyone.
“Residents always ask, ‘What color are the bulbs?'” said Wood. “And we just have to say the bulbs are assorted colors. Plant them and be surprised by their color and beauty.”

Stop by Van Buren Avenue at Main Street beginning at 10AM and the bulbs will be available absolutely free while they last or until noon. Simply bring a pair of gardening gloves to pick the bulbs preferred and a bag to carry them home.
The Alive Center, a teen center, has been chosen as the beneficiary of this spring’s Tulip Bulb Giveaway. Volunteers from the Alive Center will be available to help distribute the bulbs. The teens also will welcome visitors to make a donation in support of Alive’s Teen-Led, Teen-Driven™ programs.
