The City of Naperville’s Department of Public Works Fleet Services Division, which provides routine and emergency maintenance and repair for all City vehicles and equipment, has been named No. 7 in “The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas” ranking by the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA). The City’s fleet team has ranked among the 100 Best Fleets for 12 years running. This is the first year the team has broken into the top 10.
The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas program recognizes peak-performing fleet operations among all public fleets in North and South America. The competition ranks agencies based on several categories, including accountability, collaboration, energy management, financial management, and doing it right the first time. The team has earned this top rank with many meaningful contributions to the community including:
- Installed push bumpers on Police vehicles to provide them with extra protection and reduce downtime for repairs, saving more than $100,000 in repair costs while keeping more vehicles on the road serving the community.
- Partnered with the Finance and Fire departments to ensure fire vehicle replacements are budgeted and approved through 2028, helping secure long-term readiness.
- Supported future talent by hosting Naperville North High School Automotive Tech students at their facility and by serving on the College of DuPage Automotive Advisory Board offering insight to the Automotive Service Technology program advisors.
- Assisted Naperville’s Electric Utility in responding to FEMA’s call for aid following Hurricane Milton, servicing units for the trip within hours of receiving the request.
This ranking joins a long list of accolades for the division, including ASE Blue Seal Shop since 2004, APWA Accredited since 2006, NAFA 100 Best Fleets ranking since 2014 and 100% ASE Certification among all automotive, heavy equipment, and parts technicians in the department. The City of Naperville gratefully acknowledges the efforts of the entire Fleet Services team: Rich Armbrust, Josh Brankin, Wayne Burton, Dennis Chmiel, Erik Fischer, Jordan Gilbert, Devin Larsen, Andrew Lehmann, Dave Orlow, Dave Penkala, Jose Rodriguez, Dago Salas, Frank Turi and Josh Weber led by Lead Technicians Jeff Domaszewicz and Chris Maczko, and Fleet Services Manager Tracy Rulo, supported by Administrative Assistant Isa Diaz-Rodriguez.
