Beginning at 10AM on Sat., May 3, members of VFW Post 3873, Naperville, will host the fourth year of a fitness competition involving Veterans and the public at the Yellow Box Community Theater, located at 1635 Emerson Lane.
This event is part of the national VFW Day of Service that includes 1,500 events around the country, triple the number held last year, organizers said.
“This year marks the fourth year Post 3873 has organized a community fitness competition fostering collaboration among military organizations, Veterans and the public,” noted Staci Boyer, Commander of the VFW Post 3873.
In addition to the competition, the event features Military Fitness Demos, recruiting booths and merchandise from all participating organizations and an on-stage tribute welcoming all military and first responders on stage while featuring a combined Color Guard and live performance of the National Anthem.
Boyer added, “Last year, we welcomed 2,000 attendees, creating an incredible opportunity for veterans and service members to connect with one another, share their stories and engage with veteran service organizations and veteran-owned businesses.”
This event is a key component of the VFW’s #StillServing initiative, launched in 2020, which recognizes and promotes the ongoing contributions of U.S. military Veterans to local communities.
