I’m experiencing a serious case of seasonal confusion!
It feels like we just left winter, yet spring is teasing us—some days are warm and inviting, while others pull us right back into winter’s grip. And to make things even more interesting, here at WDSRA, we’re deep into planning for summer programs. Yikes!
But I’m fully embracing spring and looking ahead to summer with excitement. That brings me back to our summer programs—and why it’s important for you to start planning your summer now.

For children with special needs, staying active in the summer is more than just fun—it’s essential. Engaging in regular activities supports physical development, builds confidence, and fosters social connections. It also encourages independence, inclusion, and, most importantly, the pure joy of movement. Plus, keeping busy means less boredom and more meaningful experiences all summer long.
WDSRA programs are exactly what you want to make this the best summer ever. We offer something for every age and interest. Just check out a few of our exciting programs:
- Happy Hooves Farm – Experience farm life up close.
- Illinois Railway Museum – A dream day for train enthusiasts.
- Drumline – Learn to drum with the renowned Rosemont Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corp.
