Embracing Autism Acceptance: Turning Pointe’s Commitment to Inclusion

-

By Mary Butler

April is Autism Acceptance Month—a time to celebrate neurodiversity, foster understanding, and champion inclusion. At Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with autism through education, employment, and community support.

We are proud to provide:

  • CN Day School – Serving students ages 5-21 with specialized programming beyond traditional school settings.
  • Adult Services – Our Adult Day Program, Employment Training Program, and CREW (Community, Recreation, Engagement, Well-Being) initiatives provide structure, social connection, and work opportunities.
  • Hangouts – Monthly social groups for teens and adults to build friendships, with a playgroup version launching this year.
  • Research & Innovation – Collaborations with Northern Illinois University and BlinkLab drive evidence-based practices and improve autism diagnostics.
  • Sibling Support – Our new Sib Group offers a space for connection and guidance for siblings of autistic individuals.
  • Free Resource Navigation – Helping families access tailored support and services.

Acceptance is more than awareness—it’s action. Here’s how you can support our mission:

  • Buy Coffee, Support Jobs – Every purchase through our Two Brothers Coffee Roasters partnership sustains employment for individuals with autism.
  • Volunteer or Attend Events – Help expand our impact.
  • Learn & Advocate – Understanding autism creates a more inclusive world.
  • Give – Your donation, big or small, makes a lasting difference.

Join us in embracing neurodiversity—not just in April, but every day. Together, we can build a world where individuals with autism are seen, valued, and empowered.
