For nearly 20 years, PN cameras have captured local fundraising in support of St. Baldrick’s, typically tied to St. Patrick’s Day or Half Way to St. Patrick’s Day. Back in 2014, the event hosted by Naperville Public Safety teams was celebrating a decade. The event continues annually at Naperville North High School. Thanks to all who participate to heighten awareness and support for the important initiative. (PN File Photo, 2014)
St. Baldrick’s returned to Naperville North High School for its annual school assembly in the fieldhouse on Fri., March 21.
Everyone who took a seat wrapped in a St. Baldrick’s haircutting cape became a hero to help conquer kids’ cancer just as all other individuals who gave donations helped the school surpass its fundraising goal of $20,000.
By joining this annual St. Baldrick’s event—whether as a head shaver, volunteer, financial supporter or someone who became a shavee—every participant became part of the education for an important international cause.
For 25 years, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation has been a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Every individual who became involved contributed to the hope of infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers, organizers said.
When these photos were first posted, the high school already had surpassed its goal with a tally of more than $24,000. Opportunities to add to the much-appreciated fundraising are ongoing every day of the year.

Fifty-four years ago Paul Felstrup finished his time and grade at Naperville North High School. In honor of the Naperville North High School 55th anniversary, Felstrup again was set to join their annual St. Baldrick’s event among shavees. This event also will mark Felstrup’s 24th shave for the cause to help conquer kids’ cancers. For info about Team Felstrup, visit www.stbaldricks.org/participants.
