For nearly a year, A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter has been without reliable hot water, and now the nonprofit facility is in need of help to bring it back.

According to  Kallie Horner, Development Coordinator for A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter, “While we’ve managed to keep operations running with limited access to hot water in a small area, it’s simply not enough to meet the needs of our animals. With your support, we can raise the funds necessary to fix this issue and provide our adoptable pets with the care they deserve.”

The A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter is facing a critical situation. For months, the organization has been relying on a failing water heater and have been unable to afford the necessary repairs. Due to unforeseen circumstances, funding A.D.O.P.T. was counting on has fallen through, leaving the urgent need to raise $15,000 to replace the broken water heater and repair a leak that is contributing to the problem.

Why is hot water essential for the animals in our care?

  • Clean & Comfortable: Warm baths keep our adoptable animals clean, healthy, and ready for their forever homes. It’s an important part of their grooming and care routine.
  • Sanitary Food & Water Bowls: Hot water ensures that we can properly clean and sanitize dishes to prevent the spread of illness, helping our animals stay in tip-top shape.
  • A Hygienic Shelter: Deep cleaning is vital to maintaining a safe, healthy environment for our animals. Without hot water, it’s difficult to properly disinfect the shelter, putting our animals at risk.

“While we’ve done our best with limited resources, we believe our animals deserve better,” noted Horner. “They’ve been through so much already, and with your help, we can provide them with the clean, comfortable, and safe shelter they need to thrive while waiting for their forever homes.”

A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter

A.D.O.P.T. is a private, nonprofit animal shelter that has placed over 30,000 animals into loving homes. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide animals with an all-inclusive approach to care that includes housing, healthcare, enrichment, training and socialization. A.D.O.P.T. recognizes the unique challenges involved in caring for an animal and in response, we opened a training facility and a low-cost veterinary clinic in 2023. Our clinic and training center provide services to thousands of animals each year including our shelter animals, the public, and other rescue groups. We are proud to keep pets out of shelters by supporting families through difficult times via our Blessed Bonds program. A.D.O.P.T. values all stages of life and believes each animal deserves a second chance. We will continue our work and evolving to meet the needs of our community “Until Every Pet Has a Home.”
