On Feb. 11, 17 Naperville Noon Lions volunteered at Operation Support Our Troops at their Lisle warehouse. They packed 75 20-pound Comfort and Care boxes for US Troops deployed in harm’s way.
“We packed about 30 different things in each box – everything from canned tuna, chili, mac and cheese, candy, cookies, dental products, hair care products, hand warmers, batteries, to laundry pods, gum, and playing cards,” Lion Kathy Lukavsky reported.
Lion Ellen Wolff described the event as “A good time, a good deed for a good cause.”
These hands-on events are two examples in which Naperville Noon Lions support local charities. The Lions are well known for helping those with vision, hearing, and diabetes needs. In addition, the Lions offer active as well as financial support to scores of 501 c3 nonprofits. Attend a Lions Club meeting to find out more about the charities they support and opportunities to get involved.
The Lions gather the first four Tuesdays of each month at noon for a luncheon meeting at the Pomegranate Restaurant, 55 S Commons Dr, Aurora, IL. Lions enthusiastically welcome visitors to all meetings. Find out how you can put your skills to work in your community and meet interesting new people along the way.
