North Central College Report
Community members are invited to the North Central College campus to experience two unique musical events at the Wentz Concert Hall.
First up, Gospel Extravaganza returns at 5PM Sat., Feb. 22
The 37th annual Gospel Extravaganza is a celebration of Black History Month through song, spoken word, poetry, dance, and other performances. Presented by Voices of Praise, North Central’s student-led gospel choir, the event will feature guest gospel choirs from across the Chicago area.
Tickets ($10) are available for purchase here or by calling the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW.
Chords for Kids Concert will take the stage at 7PM Sat., March 1
The 18th annual Chords for Kids Concert is a unique concert-going experience designed for children with special needs and their families, set to begin at 7PM Sat., March 1.
The concert motto is “Wigglers Welcome” – attendees are encouraged to sing, dance, and celebrate the joy of music without worrying about traditional concert etiquette. Sing-and-dance-along favorites such as “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “YMCA,” “Chicken Dance,” and Disney-themed tunes are performed by the North Central College Concert Winds under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Van Oyen, professor of music and director of bands.
Last year, Dr. Van Oyen and the North Central College Concert Winds Ensemble were presented with a proclamation from DuPage County Board Chair Deborah Conroy for their service to the community through offering the Chords for Kids Concert to children with special needs and their families.
Tickets to this FREE concert are available here or by calling the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW.
