Naperville firefighters respond to house fire on Nanak Court

Naperville Firefighters extinguish house fire in 600 block of Nanak Court near Barkdoll Road, just north of Royce Road. No injuries reported. No one was home at time of fire. Damage estimated at more than $700,000. At 04:38AM on Sat., Feb. 8, Naperville’s Emergency Communication Center (ECC) received a call from a passerby reporting a fire in the attached garage of a single-family home in the 600 block of Nanak Court. Naperville 911(ECC) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer to the reported address.

While fire crews were enroute, Naperville Police arrived on the scene and reported a fully involved structure fire. The first fire unit arrived at 4:44AM and confirmed that a large portion of the first floor was heavily involved, with flames extending to the second floor. Fire crews confirmed the home was unoccupied and quickly deployed multiple hose lines to contain the fire.

At 5:21AM, the Incident Commander upgraded the response to a box alarm, bringing six additional suppression vehicles and two chief officers to the scene. By 6:28AM, the fire was deemed under control.

Firefighters remained on the scene for an additional 30 minutes to ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished. The Naperville Fire Department received assistance from the Naperville Police Department and fire departments from Aurora, Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Lisle-Woodridge, and Plainfield. Additional station coverage was provided by the Bolingbrook, Darien-Woodridge, Plainfield, Wheaton, and Oswego Fire Departments.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The building was vacant and undergoing renovations at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters. The Naperville 600 block of Nanak Ct.

Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team has deemed the structure uninhabitable. Damages are estimated to exceed $700,000.
