During the November Riverwalk Commission meeting at City Hall outgoing RW Commission Chairman Pat Kennedy was thanked for his six years of dedicated service on the Commission. Afterward, Kennedy was bussed by former RW Chairmen Geoff Roehll and Rick Hitchcock. As is tradition, outgoing members of the Commission are presented a framed photo of the Riverwalk by photographer Jo Lundeen. Noteworthy here is that all three RW Chairmen have participated in plans to extend nearly two miles of distinctive open space and ecologically balanced natural habitats for year-round enjoyment as the brick path extends toward Martin Avenue.
When Naperville celebrates its Bicentennial in 2031, the Sesquicentennial Riverwalk will celebrate its 50th year as the community’s pride and joy. New projects are intended to expand capacity, hospitality, accessibility, and safety while improving the appearance of the linear park and the ecology of the DuPage River.
Pam Bartlett has assumed leadership responsibilities for the Riverwalk Commission.
